Server Upgrades

We just went through a server upgrade for our primary web server at http://www.strandvision.com. Our previous server was on-line for over 5 years and it looks like the company went out of business (although the server ran perfectly). Since we were not able to get support tickets handled at all, we s...

People look for solutions

Over the past several weeks, I am continually reminded that people look for complete solutions, not just a piece of a solution. There are a few innovators out there who will take pieces from lots of places to save money or to get something done. It appears that most people want the total solution. W...

Re: Images not deleted from my signage

It does take about 2 minutes for the content to change. Has it been that long? Another possibility is that your cache is setup to keep it too long. If you go to the player computer, run Internet Explorer (it must be Internet Explorer, not firefox, chrome or others). Click on tools, internet options....

The importance of follow through

For the past several years, I have been amazed at how many companies do not follow through with customers. There are some that do a great job and others that do not even return a prospect's call for information (mine). We firmly believe in (and have seen the benefit of) being responsive to customers...

What news content is available for digital signage?

There are millions if not billions of RSS feeds on the Internet. Most are no updated often, but some are. There are many consolidators of feeds as well (search engines being the biggest consolidators). The lesser updated feeds will almost always "love" it if you display their feed to the p...

Opportunities

Have you ever wondered how often opportunities have been waiting for you? I have been on my new job (taking over Amy's job of sales) for a week now. During that time, several opportunities have shown themselves. I have almost completed a new licensed content deal (should be announced in a week or tw...

How users interact with StrandVision

I was recently asked how users interact with their signage accounts. The software interacts with the users by logging into their personal signage account on the strandvision.com web site. They specify the content that they want to see on their screens and if desired, the schedule that they will appe...

Production Servers

I was recently asked about the layout of our production servers. Our production servers are a series quad core or more linux servers that serve as the web site, the customer input area, the database storage, the dynamic content gathering and the player communication source. These servers are located...

Re: Why do pictures look terrible?

yes, your marketing people are right. I will try to put it into English and give you some alternatives to have it look better. If you click on the thumbnail of the image (when you are signed into your account), a new window will pop up showing image details. The logo you are working with is 132 pixe...

Why do pictures look terrible?

I am having visitors tomorrow, and have put their names and logo up on page 2 of my screens. Called “Welcome”. Can you take a look for me, cause the logo looks blurry, what can I do to fix this? I asked my marketing people and they started on things like hi res, low res pictures/images etc etc. Didn...
