Here’s a handy way to log right into StrandVision if you have to reboot your computer. The suggestion is thanks to Mario Medrano of Luther Midelfort-Mayo Health System
I wanted a way to log right into StrandVision on our dedicated computer if the power went out or if we had to reboot for some other reason. I looked around and found an article from Microsoft at: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315231
that describes the different steps to automatically launch programs and communications (including StrandVision digital signage). This process works for Microsoft Windows XP – I can’t vouch for Vista or any other operating system – and it involves editing the Registry, so be sure to make a backup before you begin.
If the PC loses power or if needing to install patches from Microsoft and the PC has to be restarted, you can now have the PC automatically log into the account with the screen setting configurations and restart StrandVision--without user interaction.
Start by creating a local admin account that will be used for installing StrandVision in the future.
Then, follow the steps below:
You can use Registry Editor to add your log on information. To do this, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
2. Locate the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
3. Using your account name and password, double-click the DefaultUserName entry, type your user name, and then click OK.
4. Double-click the DefaultPassword entry, type your password under the value data box, and then click OK.
5. If there is no DefaultPassword value, create the value. To do this, follow these steps:
* In Registry Editor, click Edit, click New, and then click String Value.
* Type DefaultPassword as the value name, and then press ENTER.
* Double-click the newly created key, and then type your password in the Value Data box.
6. If no DefaultPassword string is specified, Windows XP automatically changes the value of the AutoAdminLogon registry key from 1 (true) to 0 (false) to turn off the AutoAdminLogon feature.
7. Double-click the AutoAdminLogon entry, type 1 in the Value Data box, and then click OK.
8. If there is no AutoAdminLogon entry, create the entry. To do this, follow these steps:
* In Registry Editor, click Edit, click New, and then click String Value.
* Type AutoAdminLogon as the value name, and then press ENTER.
* Double-click the newly created key, and then type 1 in the Value Data box.
9. Quit Registry Editor.
10. Start, click Restart, and then click OK.
After your computer restarts and Windows XP starts, you can log on automatically.
